Daboral Syrup is an aminoglycoside antibiotic known for its broad-spectrum activity against protozoa, particularly Entamoeba histolytica, as well as certain bacteria and cestodes (tapeworms). Active Substance: Aminosidine Sulphate (Paromomycin) 125mg per 5ml

Suggested Use
Daboral Syrup is commonly used to treat:
- Amoebiasis
- Cryptosporidiosis
- Giardiasis
- Tapeworm infections (though not the first choice of treatment)
- Suppression of intestinal flora pre-operatively and in the management of hepatic encephalopathy.
Dosage:
Adults:
- Amoebiasis, Giardiasis, Balantidiasis: 500 mg twice daily for 5-7 days.
- Cryptosporidiosis: 500 mg four times daily for 14 days.
- Gastroenteritis due to mixed flora: 500 mg twice daily for 5-7 days.
- Prophylactic sterilization in gastrointestinal surgery: 2 g daily for 3 days.
Children:
- Amoebiasis, Giardiasis: 30 mg/kg/day in two divided doses for 5-7 days.
- Gastroenteritis: 30 mg/kg/day in two divided doses for 5-7 days.
- Prophylactic sterilization: 50 mg/kg/day for 3 days.
Warning
- Risk of Overgrowth: Use may lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms (e.g., Candida). Monitor for new infections.
- Renal Toxicity: Caution in patients with ulcerative intestinal lesions; inadvertent absorption may cause renal issues.
- Contraindications: Do not use in patients with intestinal obstruction or known hypersensitivity to the drug.
- Prolonged Use: Avoid high doses or long-term therapy to minimize risks of side effects and complications.
