Tetavax 1 Syringe is a pre-filled is a purified tetanus toxoid that has been inactivated and is adsorbed onto an aluminum salt adjuvant to enhance immune response. This single-dose syringe is pre-filled, ensuring ease of administration and accuracy in dosing. Active Substances: Tetanus Toxoid: ≥ 40 IU per 0.5 mL and Aluminum Hydroxide: 0.6 mg (acts as an adjuvant)

Suggested Use
Tetavax is indicated for:
- Tetanus Prevention: For individuals who have not completed their primary vaccination series or have uncertain immunization status.
- Post-exposure Prophylaxis: Administered to individuals with recent wounds potentially contaminated with tetanus spores.
- Neonatal Tetanus Prophylaxis: For non-immunized women of childbearing age or pregnant women.
- Primary Immunization: Two successive injections are recommended for adults, followed by a booster dose.
- Booster Injection: Recommended every ten years after the initial series.
Dosage:
- For adults and children over 7 years:
- Primary Immunization: Two doses of 0.5 mL each, given 1-2 months apart, followed by a booster dose 6-12 months after the second injection.
- Booster Dose: One injection of 0.5 mL every ten years.
- For post-exposure prophylaxis:
- Minor-clean wounds: One dose of 0.5 mL.
- Major-clean or tetanus-prone wounds: Administer human tetanus immunoglobulin (TIG) along with one dose of 0.5 mL.
Warning
- Contraindications: Individuals with a history of severe allergic reactions to any component of the vaccine should not receive it.
- Adverse Reactions: Common side effects may include local reactions at the injection site (pain, swelling), fever, malaise, and allergic-like symptoms such as urticaria or erythema. Severe reactions are rare but can occur.
- Administration Precautions: The vaccine should be administered intramuscularly in the anterolateral thigh or deltoid area; it should not be injected intradermally or into the gluteal area due to risk of nerve injury.
