Verorab is a vaccine that helps prevent rabies in people who might be exposed to the rabies virus. It is made from highly purified, inactivated virus using Vero cell culture. Suggested Use
Verorab is indicated for:
- Post-exposure prophylaxis: Administered to individuals who have been bitten or scratched by a potentially rabid animal.
- Pre-exposure prophylaxis: Recommended for individuals at high risk of rabies exposure, such as veterinarians and animal handlers
Dosage:
- Intramuscular Use: The standard dosage is 0.5 mL of reconstituted vaccine.
- Intradermal Use: A dose of 0.1 mL can be administered per injection site.
- Vaccination Schedule:
- For pre-exposure immunization, a common regimen is:
- Day 0: First dose
- Day 7: Second dose
- Day 21 or 28: Third dose

- Hypersensitivity:
- Do not administer to individuals with a known hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine or a history of severe allergic reaction to a previous dose.
- Severe Exposure Cases:
- Ensure immediate and thorough wound cleaning and consider simultaneous administration of HRIG.
- Special Populations:
- Pregnant and lactating women: Use only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks.
- Immunocompromised individuals: Monitor antibody response as additional doses may be required.
- Adverse Reactions:
- Common: Injection site pain, redness, or swelling, headache, fatigue, muscle pain, or fever.
- Rare: Severe allergic reactions (e.g., anaphylaxis). Seek immediate medical attention if severe symptoms occur.
- Storage:
- Store between 2 °C and 8 °C (do not freeze). Protect from light. Use immediately after reconstitution.
