Imipramine 10mg Tablets belong to the tricyclic antidepressant class. They are mostly prescribed for treating depression and bedwetting in kids. Each tablet contains 10mg of Imipramine Hydrochloride.
Anti-Psychotics
Suggested Use
- Treatment of major depressive disorder.
- Management of nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting) in children aged 6 years and older.
- Alleviation of symptoms associated with panic disorders and chronic pain conditions (off-label use, as directed by a physician).
Dosage:
For Depression:
- Adults:
- Initial dose: 25–50 mg daily in divided doses or as a single dose at bedtime.
- Maintenance dose: Gradually increased to 75–150 mg daily as needed.
- Maximum dose: 200 mg daily (in severe cases).
- Elderly or debilitated patients:
- Initial dose: 10–25 mg daily.
- Adjust slowly to a maintenance dose of 50–75 mg daily in divided doses.
For Nocturnal Enuresis (in children 6 years and older):
- 6–8 years: 10–20 mg daily, 1 hour before bedtime.
- 9–12 years: 25–30 mg daily, 1 hour before bedtime.
- 12 years and older: 25–50 mg daily, 1 hour before bedtime.
- Duration: Not to exceed three months without re-evaluation by a physician.

Warning
Contraindications:
- Known hypersensitivity to imipramine or other tricyclic antidepressants.
- Recent myocardial infarction or severe cardiac disorders.
- Concurrent use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuing MAOIs.
Precautions:
- Monitor closely, especially in children, adolescents, and young adults during the initial weeks of therapy.
- May cause arrhythmias and hypotension, particularly in patients with pre-existing heart conditions.
- Use cautiously in patients with a history of epilepsy.
- May worsen symptoms.
- Liver and kidney impairment: Requires dose adjustment.
Common Side Effects:
- Dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, drowsiness, dizziness, and weight gain.
- Rare but severe effects: confusion, irregular heartbeat, seizures, or allergic reactions.
Pregnancy and Lactation:
- Not recommended unless the potential benefit justifies the risk.
- Consult a doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
