Warning
- Renal Impairment: Monitor kidney function regularly due to the risk of lactic acidosis and reduced efficacy.
- Lactic Acidosis: A rare but serious condition associated with Metformin. Symptoms include malaise, myalgia, respiratory distress, and abdominal discomfort. Discontinue immediately if suspected.
- Volume Depletion: Risk of hypotension; ensure adequate hydration, especially in elderly patients or those on diuretics.
- Hypoglycemia: When combined with insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of low blood sugar increases.
