Bonviva 150mg Tablets are prescribed to prevent and treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women by strengthening bones and reducing fracture risk. The active ingredient is Ibandronic Acid (Ibandronate) at a 150mg strength.

Suggested Use

Bonviva 150mg Tablets are used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk of fractures.

Dosage: The recommended dose is one 150mg tablet once a month. Take the tablet on the same day each month, in the morning after fasting for at least 6 hours. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water (at least 180ml) while standing or sitting upright. Avoid lying down for at least 60 minutes after taking the tablet. Refrain from eating, drinking (except water), or taking other oral medications for at least 60 minutes after taking the tablet.

Warning

  • Bonviva should not be taken by patients with certain oesophagal disorders, those who cannot sit or stand upright for at least 60 minutes, or those with hypocalcemia.
  • It is important to maintain adequate calcium and vitamin D intake while on this medication.
  • Use caution in patients with severe renal impairment. Possible side effects include gastrointestinal problems, musculoskeletal pain, and hypocalcemia.
  • Rare but serious side effects include jaw osteonecrosis and femur fractures.
  • Inform your doctor about any dental problems before starting treatment.
  • Avoid using Bonviva during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
  • Consult your healthcare provider before starting this medication.
