- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), where acid from the stomach escapes into the oesophagus causing pain, inflammation, and heartburn.
- Ulcers in the upper part of the intestine (duodenal ulcer) or stomach (gastric ulcer).
- Ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, often treated in combination with antibiotics.
- Ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)

The typical dosage for Losec 20mg Mups Tablets is one tablet taken once a day, preferably in the morning. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water and not crushed or chewed. The duration of treatment varies depending on the condition being treated:
- For GERD and ulcers, the treatment usually lasts 4-8 weeks.
- For Helicobacter pylori eradication, the treatment is typically combined with antibiotics for 1-2 weeks.
- For Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, the dosage and duration are adjusted based on the patient’s response.
Warning
- Do not take Losec if you are allergic to omeprazole or any other ingredients in the tablets.
- Inform your doctor if you have severe liver problems, as the dosage may need to be adjusted.
- Long-term use of Losec may increase the risk of fractures in the hip, wrist, or spine, especially in older adults.
- Rarely, low magnesium levels can occur with prolonged use of Losec.
- If you experience severe or persistent diarrhoea, contact your doctor as omeprazole has been associated with a small increase in infectious diarrhoea.
