Coempaken 12.5/500mg Tablets contain two active ingredients to help manage type 2 diabetes. Coempaken is primarily used for:
- Improves glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

- Used as part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan including diet, exercise, and lifestyle modifications.
Dosage:
- Usual Starting Dose:
One tablet twice daily with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.
Dosing should be individualized based on renal function, efficacy, and tolerability.
Warning
- Lactic Acidosis: A rare but serious side effect associated with metformin. Symptoms include muscle pain, fatigue, abdominal discomfort, and difficulty breathing.
- Dehydration: Empagliflozin may increase the risk of dehydration, leading to dizziness or fainting. Maintain adequate fluid intake.
- Ketoacidosis: May occur even in patients with normal blood glucose levels. Seek medical attention if symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or confusion arise.
- Hypoglycemia: Risk increases when combined with other antidiabetic agents like insulin or sulfonylureas.
- Renal Monitoring: Regular assessment of kidney function is recommended.
- Not for Type 1 Diabetes or Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA): Contraindicated in these conditions.
- Pregnancy and Lactation: Use is not recommended.
Side Effects:
- Common: Urinary tract infections, increased urination, nausea, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal discomfort.
