This medication is typically prescribed when diet and exercise alone are insufficient for blood sugar control.
Anti-Diabetics
Suggested Use
Jentadueto 2.5mg/1000mg Tablets is used in:
- Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults.
- It helps lower blood sugar levels when diet and exercise alone are not enough.
- Depending on the patient’s treatment plan, it can be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medications, such as sulfonylureas or insulin.
Dosage:
The usual starting dose is one tablet taken orally once a day. The maximum recommended dose is 2 tablets per day (2.5 mg Linagliptin and 1000 mg Metformin per tablet).
The dose may be adjusted based on individual patient needs and as directed by a healthcare provider. It is typically taken with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.
Warning
- Metformin, one of the active ingredients, may increase the risk of lactic acidosis (a serious build-up of lactic acid in the blood). This condition requires urgent medical attention. Patients with kidney problems, liver disease, or severe infections should not take Jentadueto.
- Monitor kidney function regularly. The use of this medication is not recommended for patients with severe kidney impairment.
- While Linagliptin alone has a low risk of causing hypoglycemia, combining it with other blood sugar-lowering agents such as sulfonylureas or insulin may increase the risk of low blood sugar levels. Symptoms include dizziness, headache, or excessive sweating.
- Limit alcohol intake while using Jentadueto, as it can increase the risk of lactic acidosis and cause additional blood sugar fluctuations.
- The safety of Jentadueto during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. Consult your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
