Goutstat 40mg Tablets contain Febuxostat, a drug that helps control high uric acid levels in gout. It works by decreasing uric acid in the blood, which prevents painful crystals from forming in the joints. Active Component: Febuxostat 40mg.
Gout Treatment
Suggested Use
- Management of chronic hyperuricemia in adults with gout.
- Prevention of gout flares in patients undergoing urate-lowering therapy.
Dosage, Adults:
- The recommended starting dose is 40mg once daily, with or without food.
- If the serum uric acid level is not achieved after two weeks, the dose may be increased to 80mg once daily, based on the patient’s condition and clinical response.
Dose adjustment may be necessary for patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment. Not recommended for use in children.
Warning
- Discontinue immediately if signs of hypersensitivity or rash occur.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease or risk factors.
- Regular monitoring of liver function tests is recommended.
- Goutstat does not treat acute gout flares. Anti-inflammatory prophylaxis should be initiated during the first few months of therapy.
- Close monitoring is required in patients with severe renal impairment.
- Not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly necessary.
- Caution with medications metabolized by xanthine oxidase, such as theophylline or azathioprine.
