Losec 20mg Mups Tablets are used to treat various conditions related to excessive stomach acid production, including:
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), where acid from the stomach escapes into the oesophagus causing pain, inflammation, and heartburn.
- Ulcers in the upper part of the intestine (duodenal ulcer) or stomach (gastric ulcer).
- Ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, often treated in combination with antibiotics.
- Ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a condition where the stomach produces too much acid due to a growth in the pancreas
Dosage:
The typical dosage for Losec 20mg Mups Tablets is one tablet taken once a day, preferably in the morning. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water and not crushed or chewed. The duration of treatment varies depending on the condition being treated:
- For GERD and ulcers, the treatment usually lasts 4-8 weeks.
- For Helicobacter pylori eradication, the treatment is typically combined with antibiotics for 1-2 weeks.
- For Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, the dosage and duration are adjusted based on the patient’s response.
