Glipita M 50/1000 Tablet is a dual-action medication for adults with type 2 diabetes, designed to control blood sugar levels when diet and exercise are insufficient. It contains Sitagliptin 50 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg, which work together to enhance insulin release and reduce liver glucose production, making it effective for blood sugar management.
Anti-Diabetics
Suggested Use
- Glipita M 50/1000 Tablet is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly when other medications have not achieved adequate control of blood glucose levels.
- It may be used alone or in combination with other diabetes treatments.
The dosage depends on individual blood sugar levels, response to treatment, and kidney function.
Note: Dosing adjustments may be necessary in patients with impaired renal function or as directed by a healthcare provider.
Warning
- Metformin in Glipita M can cause lactic acidosis, a rare but severe condition. Patients with kidney disease, liver impairment, heart failure, or heavy alcohol use may have increased risk.
- Sitagliptin may cause pancreatitis. Seek medical help if you experience severe abdominal pain with or without vomiting.
- Although less common with this combination, hypoglycemia can occur, especially when used with other glucose-lowering drugs (e.g., insulin or sulfonylureas).
- Regular kidney function monitoring is advised due to metformin’s renal clearance.
- Limit alcohol consumption, as it can increase the risk of lactic acidosis with metformin.
- Seek immediate medical assistance if there are signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, difficulty breathing).
