Claritek 500mg Tablets, an antibiotic, is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections. Claritek works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, effectively stopping the growth and multiplication of bacteria.Active Substances: Clarithromycin 500 mg per tablet.

Suggested Use
Claritek is used to treat:
- Lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)
- Upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., pharyngitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis)
- Acute otitis media in children
- Skin and soft tissue infections (e.g., folliculitis, cellulitis, erysipelas, impetigo, abscesses)
- Disseminated or localized mycobacterial infections due to Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC)
- Eradication of Helicobacter pylori in treatment regimens for peptic ulcer disease
- Prevention of disseminated Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) disease in patients with advanced HIV infection
- Prophylaxis of endocarditis as an alternative to penicillins.
Dosage:
Adults and Children 12 years and older:
- Standard dosage: 250mg twice daily (every 12 hours) for 7-14 days.
- For severe infections: 500mg twice daily for 7-14 days.
- Helicobacter pylori eradication: 500mg twice daily in combination with other drugs, such as a proton pump inhibitor and amoxicillin or metronidazole, for 7-14 days.
Children under 12 years:
- Use paediatric formulations as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Note: The dosage should be adjusted for patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
Warning
- Gastrointestinal disturbances (e.g., nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) are common but usually mild.
- Taste disturbances, stomatitis, glossitis, tooth discoloration, and headache may occur.
- Transient CNS effects such as anxiety, dizziness, insomnia, hallucinations, and confusion have been reported.
- Hypoglycemia, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia are rare but possible adverse effects.
- Allergic reactions may occur. Seek medical attention if you experience symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing.
