Acetazolamide 250mg Tablets are prescribed to decrease the production of certain bodily fluids, including those in the eye, and to minimize fluid buildup in the body. Active Substance:Acetazolamide 250mg.

Suggested Use

Acetazolamide is indicated for the treatment of:

  1. Glaucoma: Reduces intraocular pressure by decreasing aqueous humor secretion.
  2. Edema: Alleviates fluid retention associated with heart failure or medications.
  3. Epilepsy: Used as an adjunct therapy for certain types of seizures.
  4. Altitude Sickness: Helps prevent or treat symptoms related to high altitude exposure
Dosage:
  • Typical Dosage: The usual dose for adults varies based on the condition being treated:
    • For glaucoma: 250 mg to 1000 mg daily in divided doses.
    • For epilepsy: 250 mg to 500 mg daily in divided doses.
    • For oedema: Initial doses may be higher, adjusted based on response and tolerance.

Dosage should always be determined by a healthcare provider based on individual patient needs and response to treatment.

 

Warning

  • Allergies: Do not use if allergic to acetazolamide or sulfa drugs.
  • Medical Conditions: Not recommended for individuals with severe liver or kidney disease, adrenal gland failure, or electrolyte imbalances.
  •  May cause nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhoea, numbness, drowsiness, and hearing problems.
