Malanil Pediatric Tablets are designed for children to prevent and treat malaria. They are easy to take and effectively combat Plasmodium falciparum, including resistant strains. Active ingredients: Atovaquone 62.5 mg and Proguanil Hydrochloride 25 mg.
Anti-Malarials
Suggested Use
- Prevention of Malaria:
- Ideal for children travelling to malaria-endemic regions.
- Provides protection against Plasmodium falciparum, including strains resistant to other antimalarial drugs.
- Treatment of Malaria:
- Used for acute, uncomplicated malaria in pediatric patients.
Dosage:
- For Malaria Prevention:
- Start 1-2 days before entering the endemic area.
- Continue daily during the stay and for 7 days after leaving the area.
- Dosage is weight-dependent:
- 5-8 kg: 1 tablet daily.
- 9-10 kg: 2 tablets daily.
- 11-20 kg: 3 tablets daily.
- 21-30 kg: 4 tablets daily.
- For Malaria Treatment:
- Administer once daily for 3 consecutive days.
- Dosage is also based on weight, following the same scale as prevention.
Warning
- If vomiting occurs within one hour of dosing, a repeat dose should be administered.
- Tablets should preferably be swallowed whole. If difficulties are encountered, the tablets can be crushed and mixed with food or a milky drink.
- Absorption of atovaquone may be reduced in patients with diarrhoea.
- Patients should be monitored for signs of allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, or difficulty breathing
