Humulin 70/30 is used to improve blood sugar control in adults with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps manage blood sugar levels throughout the day and night.
- Diabetes Mellitus (Type 1 and Type 2): To improve glycemic control in adults and children.
- Gestational Diabetes: When insulin therapy is required.
Dosage:
Administration: Subcutaneous injection.
- Adult and Paediatric Dose:
- Individualized based on blood glucose monitoring.
- Typically administered 30 minutes before a meal.
- Mixing/Preparation:
- Roll the vial gently between your hands to mix. Do not shake forcefully to avoid forming bubbles.
Dosage Adjustment:
- Adjust based on meal patterns, physical activity, and blood sugar levels.
Warning
- Hypoglycemia: Monitor closely, especially during dose adjustments or when switching insulin types.
- Injection Site Reactions: Rotate injection sites to prevent lipodystrophy.
- Allergic Reactions: Rare, but may occur. Discontinue and seek medical help if symptoms like rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing develop.
- Illness/Stress: Blood glucose may increase; insulin dose adjustments may be required.
