Goutstat 80mg Tablets help control chronic high uric acid levels and gout. They lower the amount of uric acid made in the body, which stops crystals from building up in joints and tissues. This can ease gout symptoms and lower the chances of gout attacks. Active Ingredient: Febuxostat 80mg.
Gout Treatment
Suggested Use
- Treatment of chronic hyperuricemia in patients with gout.
- Prevention of uric acid crystal formation to manage and prevent gout flares.
Dosage:
- Adults:
- The recommended dose is one 80mg tablet once daily, with or without food.
- If serum uric acid levels remain above the target level of 6 mg/dL after 2–4 weeks, the dose may be increased to 120mg daily under a doctor’s supervision.
Not recommended for use in individuals under 18 years of age.
Always follow the healthcare provider’s prescription.
Warning
- Do not use if allergic to Febuxostat or any excipients in the tablet.
- Patients with severe kidney or liver impairment should consult their doctor before use.
- Use with caution in individuals with a history of cardiovascular disease (e.g., heart attack or stroke).
- Common side effects: Nausea, diarrhoea, rash, or mild liver function abnormalities.
- Rare but serious side effects: Severe allergic reactions, cardiovascular events, or gout flares (typically during treatment initiation).
- Avoid combining with azathioprine, mercaptopurine, or theophylline due to the increased risk of toxicity.
- Not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding unless prescribed by a doctor.
- Drinking plenty of fluids is recommended to support uric acid excretion.
- Patients might experience temporary gout flares at the start of treatment; continuing therapy as prescribed is crucial to long-term management.
