Glypy Met 50/500mg Tablets combine Vidagliptin (50mg) and Metformin Hydrochloride (500mg) to effectively manage type 2 diabetes. This combination helps regulate blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of complications and providing better control for patients who require more than lifestyle changes or single-drug treatment.

Suggested Use

  1. Glypy Met 50/500mg is indicated for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood sugar control alongside diet and exercise.
  2. This combination is typically prescribed when previous treatments, such as Metformin alone, do not provide adequate control.
  3. It may also be used as part of dual therapy in combination with other antidiabetic medications as per a physician’s advice.

The exact dosage should always be determined by a healthcare provider based on the patient’s individual needs and blood glucose levels.

Warning

  •  Glypy Met 50/500mg is not suitable for patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
  • When combined with other antidiabetic drugs, such as insulin or sulfonylureas, there may be an increased risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
  • Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, as this can affect drug clearance. Regular monitoring of renal function is advised.
  • Metformin can cause lactic acidosis, a rare but serious metabolic complication. Patients should seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms like muscle pain, trouble breathing, stomach pain, or unusual tiredness.
  • Limit alcohol intake, as it can increase the risk of lactic acidosis and affect blood sugar control.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Not recommended unless clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare provider.
  • Common Side Effects: Gastrointestinal issues (nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea), Headache and dizziness, Possible metallic taste in the mouth
