Warning
- Lactic Acidosis: Rare but serious; symptoms include unusual muscle pain, difficulty breathing, stomach pain, and dizziness. Seek immediate medical attention if these symptoms occur.

- Caution in patients with liver disease, as metformin may accumulate and lead to adverse effects.
- May need to stop taking Glucophage XR temporarily before certain surgeries or radiology studies involving iodinated contrast agents.
