Diamicron MR 30 mg is prescribed for:
- Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: To help control blood sugar in adults when diet, exercise, and weight loss alone are not sufficient.
- Combination Therapy: It can be used alongside other diabetes medications when recommended by a healthcare provider.
Your doctor will determine and adjust the dose based on your needs and blood sugar levels. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully and do not change the dosage on your own. Take the tablet with food, at the same time each day. Swallow whole; do not crush or chew.
Warning
- Monitor blood sugar levels regularly, especially when starting or adjusting the dose. Symptoms of low blood sugar include dizziness, sweating, and confusion.
- Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment; dosage adjustment may be necessary.
- Alcohol can increase the risk of hypoglycemia or mask its symptoms.
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult a healthcare provider for alternatives.
- Certain medications (e.g., other antidiabetic drugs, beta-blockers, NSAIDs) may interact with Diamicron, affecting blood glucose control.
