Coempaken 12.5/1000mg Tablets contain two active ingredients to help manage type 2 diabetes. This combination works to control blood sugar levels in adults and lowers the chance of complications when paired with diet and exercise. Active Substances: Empagliflozin 12.5 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg per tablet.

Suggested Use
Coempaken is primarily indicated for:
- Improving glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
- Reducing the risk of cardiovascular events (such as heart attack or stroke) in patients with type 2 diabetes and existing heart disease
Dosage:
- The usual dosage is one tablet daily, taken with or without food, preferably in the morning. Dosage may be adjusted based on individual medical conditions and response to treatment.
- It is essential to follow the prescribing physician’s instructions regarding dosage and timing.
Warning
- Lactic Acidosis: A rare but serious side effect associated with metformin. Symptoms include muscle pain, fatigue, abdominal discomfort, and difficulty breathing.
- Dehydration: Empagliflozin may increase the risk of dehydration, leading to dizziness or fainting. Maintain adequate fluid intake.
- Ketoacidosis: May occur even in patients with normal blood glucose levels. Seek medical attention if symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or confusion arise.
- Hypoglycemia: Risk increases when combined with other antidiabetic agents like insulin or sulfonylureas.
- Renal Monitoring: Regular assessment of kidney function is recommended.
- Not for Type 1 Diabetes or Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA): Contraindicated in these conditions.
- Pregnancy and Lactation: Use is not recommended.
Side Effects:
- Common: Urinary tract infections, increased urination, nausea, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal discomfort.
- Rare: Allergic reactions, lactic acidosis, and severe dehydration.
