Suggested Use
Kefrox is used to treat infections caused by bacteria, including:
- Pharyngitis/tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes
- Acute bacterial otitis media caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis
- Acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis
- Lower respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia
- Acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Gonorrhea
- Lyme disease.
Dosage:
The dosage of Kefrox 125mg/5ml Suspension varies depending on the age and condition of the patient:
- Adults and children over 12 years: Typically, 250 mg to 500 mg twice daily.
- Children aged 3 months to 12 years: 125 mg twice daily, or 10 mg/kg twice daily to a maximum of 250 mg daily. For otitis media, 250 mg twice daily or 15 mg/kg twice daily to a maximum of 500 mg daily.
Warning
- Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, penicillins, or other drugs should use Kefrox with caution.
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. If superinfection occurs, appropriate measures should be taken.
- : Use with caution in patients with impaired liver or kidney function.
- Cefuroxime is generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but it should only be used if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
