Ampiclox 500mg Capsules are formulated with a combination of Ampicillin and Cloxacillin, both of which are active ingredients. These capsules belong to the group of Penicillin antibiotics and are utilized in the treatment of various bacterial infections. Ampiclox is frequently prescribed to combat penicillin-resistant infections, as it offers a broader spectrum of activity. Each Ampiclox 500mg capsule contains 250 mg of Ampicillin and 250 mg of Cloxacillin.

Ampiclox is prescribed for a wide range of bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, such as upper and lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, middle ear infections, gastrointestinal infections, and bone and joint infections. It is also effective in treating skin and soft-tissue infections like boils or infections resulting from spider bites. The standard adult dose for susceptible infections is one capsule taken four times daily. In severe infections, the dosage can be raised to a maximum of 12 capsules per day.

If you have an allergy to Penicillin or any other component of this medicine, it is advisable to avoid taking this drug. Ampiclox is not suitable for infants and should not be used for an extended period of time. If you have Kidney or Liver ailments, it is recommended to avoid taking this medication, and the dosage should be lower. There is a rare possibility of a severe intestinal condition caused by a bacteria called C. difficile, which may occur during treatment or even weeks to months after treatment has ceased. Prolonged or repeated use of this medication may lead to oral thrush or a new vaginal yeast infection. Although a serious allergic reaction to this drug is uncommon, if you experience symptoms such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical assistance.
