Ampiclox 500mg Capsules are a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat several bacterial infections. They contain a combination of two active ingredients which work together to inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death. Active Substances: Ampicillin 250mg and Cloxacillin 250mg per tablet.

Ampiclox 500mg Capsules are used to treat a variety of infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:
- Respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia).
- Skin and soft tissue infections (e.g., abscesses, cellulitis).
- Bone and joint infections (e.g., osteomyelitis).
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs).
- Gastrointestinal infections (e.g., typhoid fever, enteritis).
- Post-surgical infections (as prophylaxis in certain cases).
- Endocarditis (prevention and treatment).
Dosage:
Adults:
- Standard dose: One capsule (500mg) every 6 hours.
- Severe infections: The dose may be increased as directed by a healthcare provider.
Note: Always complete the full course of antibiotics as prescribed to prevent antibiotic resistance.
Warning
- Do not use if allergic to penicillin or beta-lactam antibiotics. Inform your doctor of any previous hypersensitivity reactions.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult a doctor before use, although it is generally considered safe.
- Dose adjustments may be required in patients with renal or hepatic dysfunction.
- Ampiclox may interact with:
- Probenecid (increases antibiotic levels).
- Oral contraceptives (may reduce their effectiveness).
- Anticoagulants (increased risk of bleeding).
- May cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal discomfort.
- Prolonged use may lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, such as fungi.
Side Effects:

- Diarrhoea.
- Nausea or vomiting.
- Skin rashes or itching.
- Mild allergic reactions (e.g., urticaria).
Serious side effects (rare):
- Anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction).
- Severe diarrhoea (possible Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhoea).
- Hepatotoxicity (liver damage).
- Blood disorders (e.g., thrombocytopenia, anaemia).
Important Notes:
- Avoid alcohol consumption during treatment.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is close to the next dose. Do not double the dose.
