Suggested Use
Terbinol is indicated for the treatment of:
- Fungal infections of the skin caused by dermatophytes, including:
- Tinea corporis (ringworm of the body)
- Tinea cruris (jock itch)
- Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot)
- Onychomycosis (fungal infections of the nails)
Dosage:
- Adults and children over 2 years:
- General dosage: 1 tablet (250 mg) once daily.
- Duration of treatment:
- Tinea corporis: 2 to 4 weeks
- Tinea cruris: 2 to 4 weeks
- Tinea pedis: 2 to 6 weeks
- Onychomycosis (fingernails): 6 weeks
- Onychomycosis (toenails): up to 12 weeks
It is important to take Terbinol regularly and at the same time each day to maintain a constant level in the bloodstream.
Warning
- Do not take Terbinol if you are allergic to terbinafine or any of its ingredients.
- Monitor liver function regularly as terbinafine may cause liver damage. Discontinue use and consult a doctor if symptoms of liver dysfunction, such as jaundice or dark urine, appear.
- Use with caution in patients with kidney disease.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Not recommended unless prescribed by a doctor. Terbinafine is excreted in breast milk.
- Inform your doctor of all medications you are taking, especially cimetidine, rifampin, or antidepressants, as they may interact with terbinafine.
- Common side effects include headache, gastrointestinal discomfort, rash, and changes in taste. Rarely, severe allergic reactions or liver problems may occur.
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it may increase the risk of liver damage.
