Claritek Suspension 125mg/5ml is a macrolide antibiotic. It is a pleasant-tasting oral suspension that treats various bacterial infections in children. Suggested Use
Claritek Suspension is indicated for the treatment of:
- Upper respiratory tract infections: Such as tonsillitis and pharyngitis, particularly when beta-lactam antibiotics are not suitable.
- Acute otitis media: In children aged 6 months to 12 years.
- Skin and soft tissue infections: Caused by clarithromycin-susceptible organisms.
- Sinusitis and other infections as determined by a healthcare provider.
Dosage and Administration:
The dosage depends on the child’s weight and the severity of the infection. The following is a general guideline:
- Children aged 6 months to 12 years: 7.5mg/kg of body weight, twice daily (every 12 hours), for 5-10 days.
- Maximum daily dose: Do not exceed 500mg twice daily.
Administration Instructions:
- Shake the bottle well before use to ensure the suspension is evenly mixed.
- Measure the dose accurately using the provided measuring spoon or syringe.
- Administer after meals to improve absorption and reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.
Reconstitution:
- Add the specified amount of water to the powder and shake well to form the suspension.
- Store the reconstituted suspension in a refrigerator and use within 14 days.
Warning
- Avoid use in individuals with a known allergy to clarithromycin, other macrolides, or any of the excipients.
- Use with caution in patients with liver or renal dysfunction. Dose adjustment may be necessary.
- Claritek may interact with certain medications, such as warfarin, statins, and calcium channel blockers. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications being taken.
- May cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, or abdominal pain. Discontinue use and consult a doctor if severe or persistent symptoms occur.
- Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed to prevent resistance, even if symptoms improve earlier.
- Keep out of reach of children. Do not freeze the reconstituted suspension.
