Humulin R 100iu/ml 10ml is a fast-acting insulin solution for diabetes management containing recombinant human insulin that mimics the body’s natural insulin. Active Substance: Human Insulin (Recombinant DNA Origin): 100 IU/ml.

Suggested Use
Humulin R is used for the management of:
- Diabetes Mellitus: Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes to control hyperglycaemia.
- Gestational Diabetes: When insulin therapy is required during pregnancy.
- Hyperglycaemic Emergencies: Such as diabetic ketoacidosis (administered under medical supervision).
Dosage:
- Individualized Dose: Dosage is tailored based on blood glucose monitoring, medical advice, and the patient’s needs.
- Typical Administration:
- Subcutaneous injection 30 minutes before meals.
- Preferred injection sites: Abdomen, thigh, or upper arm (rotate injection sites to prevent lipodystrophy).
- Can also be administered intravenously in a medical setting.
- Dosage Frequency: Usually 2-4 times daily, depending on blood sugar levels and meal patterns.
Warning
- Hypoglycaemia: Most common side effect; monitor for signs such as dizziness, sweating, or confusion. Always carry sugar or a glucagon injection kit.
- Allergic Reactions: Watch for signs like rash, itching, or swelling at the injection site. Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) are rare but require immediate medical attention.
- Storage:
- Store in the refrigerator (2 °C–8 °C).
- Avoid freezing or exposing to direct sunlight.
- Opened cartridges can be kept at room temperature (below 25 °C) for up to 28 days.
- Drug Interactions: Certain medications like beta-blockers, corticosteroids, or diuretics may affect insulin efficacy. Consult your healthcare provider.
- Medical Supervision: Adjustments in dosage may be required during illness, stress, or significant dietary changes.
- Use in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Safe when prescribed. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is essential.
