Uses:
- Primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
- Helps to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems by reducing elevated blood pressure.
Dosage:
- Adults: The recommended dose is one tablet taken once daily, preferably at the same time each day. Dosing may be adjusted based on individual patient response and blood pressure control.
- Maximum Dose: Should not exceed 10mg/320mg/25mg daily.
- Administration: Take with or without food, and swallow the tablet whole with water.
Warning
- Do not use if allergic to amlodipine, valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or any components of this medication.
- Not recommended during pregnancy, especially after the first trimester, due to potential harm to the fetus. Avoid during breastfeeding.
- Caution is advised for patients with severe kidney or liver impairment. Dose adjustments may be necessary.
- May cause or worsen electrolyte imbalances, such as low potassium, sodium, or magnesium levels. Regular blood tests are advised to monitor electrolyte levels.
- Hydrochlorothiazide can lead to excessive urination, which may cause dehydration. Adequate fluid intake should be maintained.
- Regular monitoring of blood pressure is necessary to ensure the medication is effectively controlling blood pressure.
- Common side effects include dizziness, headache, fatigue, swelling (oedema), and gastrointestinal disturbances.
- Seek medical attention if severe side effects occur, such as signs of an allergic reaction, extreme dizziness, fainting, muscle weakness, or irregular heartbeat.
