Euvax B Adult 1 Dose Vial is a hepatitis B vaccine for adults. It provides immunity against hepatitis B infection. The vaccine contains the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and is given through intramuscular injection. Suggested Use
Euvax B Adult is used to:
- Provide immunity against hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in adults.
- Prevent hepatitis B in high-risk groups such as healthcare workers, individuals with chronic liver disease, travelers to regions with high HBV prevalence, and individuals at risk of exposure through sexual or blood contact.
Dosage and Administration:
- Standard Schedule: The vaccine is administered as a series of 3 intramuscular injections at 0, 1, and 6 months.
- Catch-Up Schedule: For individuals who miss a dose, follow-up vaccinations can be scheduled at the earliest convenience.
- Site of Administration: The deltoid muscle is the preferred site for adults.
Note: Ensure the vial is shaken well before use to form a uniform suspension.
Warning
- Hypersensitivity: Do not administer to individuals with a known hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine.
- Acute Illness: Postpone vaccination in individuals with a moderate or severe acute illness until recovery.
- Immune Response: The vaccine may not provide complete protection in all individuals, especially those who are immunocompromised.
- Injection Site: Avoid intravenous or intradermal administration. Only intramuscular injection is recommended.
- Pregnancy and Lactation: Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly needed and after consulting a healthcare professional.
- Store the vaccine between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze.
Adverse Effects: Common side effects include pain or redness at the injection site, fever, fatigue, headache, or muscle pain. Serious adverse reactions are rare, but may include anaphylaxis.
