Claricos 500mg Tablets are a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic. These tablets are commonly used to treat bacterial infections by inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Suggested Use

Claricos 500mg Tablets is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible microorganisms, including:

  1. Lower respiratory tract infections: such as acute and chronic bronchitis and pneumonia.
  2. Skin infections: uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections.
  3. Ear, nose, and throat infections: including acute otitis media, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis.
  4. Helicobacter pylori eradication: in combination with other medications for treating duodenal ulcers.
  5. Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infection: prevention and treatment in immunocompromised patients.

 

Dosage:

The dosage of Claricos 500mg Tablets varies based on the type and severity of the infection:

  • Adults: Typically, the dosage is 250 to 500 mg every 12 hours for 7 to 14 days.
  • Children (12 years and older): The dosage is usually determined by a healthcare provider based on body weight.

For specific conditions:

  • For community-acquired pneumonia: Adults may take 1000 mg once daily for 7 days.
  • For H. pylori eradication: Adults may take 500 mg every 8 hours for 14 days in combination with other medications.

Note: Always follow the prescribing physician’s instructions regarding dosage and duration of treatment.

Warning

  • Contraindications:
    • Hypersensitivity to clarithromycin, macrolides, or any of the excipients.
    • Patients with a history of QT prolongation or ventricular arrhythmias.
    • Severe liver failure combined with kidney impairment.
  • Potential Interactions:
    • Avoid use with medications like ergotamine, simvastatin, or lovastatin due to the risk of serious side effects.
    • Clarithromycin may interact with other medications, including anticoagulants, benzodiazepines, and certain anticonvulsants.
  • Side Effects:
    • Common: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and taste disturbances.
    • Rare: Allergic reactions, liver dysfunction, and hearing loss.
  • Pregnancy and Lactation:
    • Use with caution during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. Consult a doctor if breastfeeding.
  • Additional Precautions:
    • Use with caution in patients with heart conditions or electrolyte imbalances (e.g., hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia).
