Celebrex 200mg capsules are NSAIDs that provide pain and inflammation relief. They are often prescribed for sudden chronic musculoskeletal and joint pain. Active Substance: Celecoxib 200mg per capsule.

Suggested Use

Celebrex is used for the treatment of:

  1. Osteoarthritis: Relieves symptoms such as pain, stiffness, and swelling in affected joints.
  2. Rheumatoid Arthritis: Reduces joint inflammation and improves physical function.
  3. Ankylosing Spondylitis: Alleviates pain and stiffness associated with this condition.
  4. Acute Pain: Effective for short-term pain management (e.g., post-surgical or dental pain).
  5. Primary Dysmenorrhea: Treats pain associated with menstrual periods.

Dosage:

  • Adults:
    • Osteoarthritis: 200mg once daily or 100mg twice daily.
    • Rheumatoid Arthritis: 100-200mg twice daily.
    • Ankylosing Spondylitis: 200mg once daily or 100mg twice daily, which may be increased to 400mg daily if needed.
    • Acute Pain/Dysmenorrhea: Initial dose of 400mg, followed by 200mg if needed on the first day. Then, 200mg twice daily as required.
  • Elderly:
    • Use with caution; dosage adjustments may be necessary based on renal and hepatic function.
  • Children:
    • Not recommended for individuals under 18 years.

Note: Take with or without food. Swallow the capsules whole with water.

Warning

  • May increase the risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attack or stroke. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.
  • Can cause gastrointestinal irritation, bleeding, or ulcers, especially in older adults or those with a history of GI conditions.
  •  Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
  • Contraindicated in patients allergic to celecoxib, sulfonamides, or other NSAIDs.
  •  Not recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
  • Avoid concomitant use with other NSAIDs, anticoagulants, or medications affecting renal function.
  • Monitor for signs of hypersensitivity, such as rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty.
