Baclofen 10mg Tablets reduces muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain caused by neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries. Active Substance: Baclofen 10mg per tablet.

Suggested Use

Baclofen is indicated for:

  • Relief of spasticity due to conditions such as:
    • Multiple sclerosis
    • Spinal cord lesions (e.g., tumours, syringomyelia)
    • Motor neurone disease
    • Cerebral palsy
    • Traumatic head injuries
    • Cerebrovascular accidents (strokes)

It decreases painful flexor spasms and random muscle twitches, aiding patients in their movement and independence throughout rehabilitation.

Dosage:

  • Adults: The typical starting dose is 5mg taken orally three times a day. This can be gradually increased by 5mg every three days until an effective dose is reached.
    • The usual maintenance dose is 40-80mg per day, divided into multiple doses.
  • Maximum dose: 80mg per day in divided doses.
  • Elderly patients: Dosage should be started at the lower end of the range and adjusted based on individual tolerance and response.
  • Paediatric use: Not typically recommended for children under 12 years. For older children, the dose should be individualized based on weight and medical condition.

Note: Dosage must be adjusted and monitored by a healthcare professional.

Warning

  1. Avoid abrupt discontinuation: Sudden cessation can lead to withdrawal symptoms such as hallucinations, seizures, or severe muscle rigidity. Always taper off under medical supervision.
  2. Drowsiness and dizziness: Baclofen may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. Exercise caution until you know how it affects you.
  3. Medical conditions: Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment, epilepsy, or a history of stroke.
  4. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  5. Alcohol and CNS depressants: Avoid combining Baclofen with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants, as it can enhance sedative effects.
