Suggested Use
Baclofen is indicated for:
- Relief of spasticity due to conditions such as:
- Multiple sclerosis
- Spinal cord lesions (e.g., tumours, syringomyelia)
- Motor neurone disease
- Cerebral palsy
- Traumatic head injuries
- Cerebrovascular accidents (strokes)
It decreases painful flexor spasms and random muscle twitches, aiding patients in their movement and independence throughout rehabilitation.
Dosage:
- Adults: The typical starting dose is 5mg taken orally three times a day. This can be gradually increased by 5mg every three days until an effective dose is reached.
- The usual maintenance dose is 40-80mg per day, divided into multiple doses.
- Maximum dose: 80mg per day in divided doses.
- Elderly patients: Dosage should be started at the lower end of the range and adjusted based on individual tolerance and response.
- Paediatric use: Not typically recommended for children under 12 years. For older children, the dose should be individualized based on weight and medical condition.

Warning
