ATM 500mg 3s is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which is essential for bacterial growth and survival. Active Substances: Azithromycin 500mg per tablet.
Anti-Biotics
Suggested Use
ATM 500mg Tablets are used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including:
- Respiratory infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Ear infections
- Eye infections
- Sexually transmitted diseases (e.g., chlamydia, gonorrhoea)
- Sinusitis
- Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis
Dosage:
For adults and children over 45 kg:
- Common Dosage: 500 mg once daily for 3 days.
- Alternative Dosage: 500 mg on the first day, followed by 250 mg once daily for the next 4 days.
Warning
- Do not use Azithromycin if you have a known hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, or any other macrolide antibiotics.
- History of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with previous azithromycin use is also a contraindication.
- Patients with a history of heart problems should consult their doctor prior to use. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should seek medical advice before taking this medication.
- Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and headache. Serious allergic reactions may occur; discontinue use and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing arise.
Azithromycin is effective against bacterial infections but will not treat viral infections such as colds or flu. Always complete the prescribed course even if symptoms improve to prevent recurrence of the infection.
