Kefrox 250mg/5ml Suspension (50ml) is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that treats bacterial infections. It contains 250mg of Cefuroxime and is available in a tasty liquid form, making it easy for children and adults to take.

Suggested Use

Kefrox 250mg/5ml Suspension is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:

  1. Upper respiratory tract infections: sinusitis, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis.
  2. Lower respiratory tract infections: bronchitis and pneumonia.
  3. Urinary tract infections: cystitis and pyelonephritis.
  4. Skin and soft tissue infections: cellulitis and impetigo.
  5. Otitis media (middle ear infections).
  6. Lyme disease in early stages (as determined by a healthcare provider).
Dosage:
  • Adults and Children (>12 years):
    250-500mg (5ml-10ml) twice daily depending on the severity of the infection.
  • Children (3 months–12 years):
    10-15mg/kg body weight twice daily. The maximum dose should not exceed 500mg/day.
  • Administration:
    • Shake the bottle well before use.
    • Administer with or after meals to enhance absorption and minimize stomach upset.
    • Always use the provided measuring device for accurate dosing.

The specific dosage and duration should be as prescribed by a healthcare professional.

Warning

  1. Do not use Kefrox if the patient has a known allergy to cefuroxime, other cephalosporins, or penicillins.
  2.  Dose adjustments may be required in patients with renal dysfunction.
  3. Cefuroxime may cause Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea; discontinue and seek medical attention if severe diarrhoea occurs.
  4. Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Use only if the potential benefit outweighs the risk as determined by a doctor.
  5. Avoid using with strong diuretics or nephrotoxic drugs to reduce the risk of kidney damage.
  6.  Keep refrigerated (2°C to 8°C) after reconstitution. Discard unused suspension after 10 days.
