Plendil Tabs 5mg is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It belongs to a class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers. The active ingredient in Plendil Tabs 5mg is felodipine, which helps relax and widen blood vessels so blood can flow more easily

Suggested Use
Plendil Tablets 5mg are indicated for:
- Hypertension: To reduce high blood pressure, minimizing the risk of cardiovascular events such as strokes and heart attacks.
- Stable Angina Pectoris: To prevent chest pain caused by inadequate blood flow to the heart.
The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your response to the medication.
Administration: Take Plendil Tabs 5mg exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food, but take it the same way each time.
Warning
- Contraindications:
- Known hypersensitivity to felodipine or any other excipients in the tablet.
- Unstable angina or recent myocardial infarction.
- Use with Caution:
- In patients with severe liver impairment, as felodipine clearance may be reduced.
- In those with a history of heart failure or other cardiac conditions.
- Potential Side Effects:
- Common: Headache, flushing, dizziness, peripheral edema (swelling in the ankles or feet).
- Rare: Gingival hyperplasia, hypotension, or allergic reactions.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
- Not recommended during pregnancy due to potential risks to the fetus.
- Consult a doctor before use if breastfeeding.
- Drug Interactions:
- Avoid combining with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, erythromycin) as they may increase felodipine levels.
- Use caution with other antihypertensive agents to prevent excessive lowering of blood pressure.
