On Setron-Denk 4mg Tabs are orodispersible tablets that help stop and treat nausea and vomiting. They dissolve fast in the mouth without needing water, which makes them easy for patients to use. The active ingredient is ondansetron (4 mg per tablet).
Anti-Emetics
Suggested Use
- Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
- Management of post-operative nausea and vomiting.
Dosage:
Adults:
- Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV):
- Highly emetogenic chemotherapy: 24mg taken 30 minutes before treatment or 8mg twice daily.
- Moderately emetogenic chemotherapy: 8mg 30 minutes before treatment, followed by 8mg every 12 hours for up to 5 days.
- Post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV):
- 16mg taken 1 hour before anaesthesia induction, or 8mg every 8 hours as needed.
Children (6 months and older):
- Doses are typically weight-based and should be prescribed by a healthcare professional.
Warning
- Avoid if allergic to ondansetron or any of its components.
- Use with caution in patients with cardiac arrhythmias, electrolyte imbalances, or those taking medications that prolong QT intervals.
- Pregnancy and Lactation: Use only if prescribed by a doctor. Limited studies are available.
- Dosage adjustments may be necessary in patients with liver dysfunction.
- Inform your healthcare provider about any medications, especially apomorphine or drugs affecting serotonin levels (e.g., SSRIs or SNRIs).
- Common side effects include headache, constipation, dizziness, or a sensation of warmth or flushing.
