Gaviscon Aniseed Suspension is an oral suspension used to relieve symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux such as acid regurgitation, heartburn, and indigestion. It comes in an aniseed flavour and forms a protective layer that floats on top of the stomach contents, preventing reflux and keeping the stomach contents away from the lining of the food pipe.
Each 10ml of Gaviscon Aniseed Suspension contains:
- Sodium Alginate 500mg
- Sodium Bicarbonate 267mg
- Calcium Carbonate 160mg

Suggested Use
Gaviscon Aniseed Suspension is used for the treatment of:
- Acid reflux and heartburn
- Indigestion (dyspepsia)
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Symptoms associated with hiatal hernia
- Acid regurgitation during pregnancy
Dosage and Administration:
- Adults and children over 12 years: Take 10-20ml after meals and at bedtime.
- Children 6-12 years: Take 5-10ml after meals and at bedtime.
- Children under 6 years: Use only under medical supervision.
- Elderly: No special dosage adjustments are required.
- Shake well before use and do not exceed the recommended dose.
Warning
- If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, seek medical advice.
- Not recommended for patients with severe kidney disease or hypercalcemia.
- Safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but consult a healthcare professional.
- Contains sodium and calcium—patients on a controlled salt diet should consult a doctor.
Possible Side Effects:
- Nausea
- Constipation or diarrhea
- Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or breathing difficulties (rare)
