Metformin Denk 500mg is a biguanide medication used to manage blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. It improves insulin response, decreases liver sugar production, and reduces intestinal sugar absorption. Active ingredient: metformin hydrochloride 500mg.

Suggested Use
Metformin Denk 500mg is used to:
- Lower blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.
- Improve insulin sensitivity and reduce glucose production in the liver.
- Help prevent complications associated with diabetes, such as kidney damage, nerve issues, and heart problems.
Dosage:
- Initial Dose: 500 mg twice a day or 850 mg once a day, taken with meals.
- Maintenance Dose: 2000 mg per day in divided doses.
- Maximum Dose: 2550 mg per day.
- Pediatric Dose: For children 10 years or older, the initial dose is 500 mg twice a day, with a maximum dose of 2000 mg per day.
Warning
- Lactic Acidosis: A rare but serious condition that can occur due to metformin accumulation. Symptoms include muscle pain, trouble breathing, stomach pain, dizziness, and feeling very weak or tired.
- Kidney Function: Not recommended for patients with severe kidney disease or those with an eGFR below 30 mL/min/1.73 m².
- Alcohol: Excessive alcohol intake increases the risk of lactic acidosis.
- Surgery and Radiological Procedures: May need to temporarily stop taking metformin if undergoing major surgery or certain radiological procedures involving contrast dyes.
- Other Conditions: Not suitable for patients with severe liver disease, heart failure, or metabolic acidosis.
