Glipxen (Linagliptin) 5mg Tablets are oral medications for managing blood sugar in type 2 diabetes. As a DPP-4 inhibitor, they enhance incretin hormones, promoting insulin release and reducing glucagon. Typically, they are used alongside a balanced diet and exercise for effective blood sugar control.
Anti-Diabetics
Suggested Use
- For patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone and for whom metformin is inappropriate due to intolerance or contraindications.
- In combination with other medications such as metformin or insulin when these do not provide adequate glycaemic control.
Recommended dose: One tablet (5mg) taken once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Always follow your doctor’s instructions regarding dose and duration.
Warning
- Do not use if you are allergic to linagliptin or any of the excipients in the tablet.
- Increased risk when used with sulphonylurea or insulin.
- Cases of acute pancreatitis have been reported. Discontinue use if pancreatitis is suspected.
- No dose adjustment is required for patients with renal impairment.
- No dose adjustment is required, but clinical experience in such patients is limited.
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed. It is not known whether linagliptin passes into breast milk.
