Chlorpromazine 25mg Tablets are primarily prescribed for mental health and neurological disorders. They alter the way chemicals function in the brain, which helps to diminish psychotic symptoms. They can also provide relief from nausea and vomiting. Active Substance: Chlorpromazine Hydrochloride 25mg per tablet.

Suggested Use
Chlorpromazine 25mg Tablets are used for:
- Schizophrenia and other psychoses: Helps manage symptoms such as delusions, hallucinations, and paranoia.
- Mania and hypomania: Reduces overactive behaviour and stabilizes mood.
- Anxiety and agitation: Provides short-term relief from anxiety, agitation, and violent or impulsive behaviour.
- Persistent hiccups: Controls intractable hiccups.
- Nausea and vomiting: Treats nausea and vomiting associated with terminal illness.
- Autism: Helps manage behavioural disturbances.
Dosage:
Adults:
- Psychosis: Start with 25mg orally, 2–3 times daily. Gradually increase to a maintenance dose of 75–300mg per day in divided doses.
- Nausea and Vomiting: 10–25mg every 4–6 hours as needed.
- Severe Hiccups: 25–50mg 3–4 times daily.
Children (under physician supervision): Dose is calculated based on body weight (0.5mg/kg every 4–6 hours), not exceeding 40mg/day for younger children.
Elderly: Start with a lower dose (e.g., 10–15mg once or twice daily) and titrate gradually due to increased sensitivity.
Important Notes: Take the tablet with or after food to reduce stomach upset. Follow the prescribed schedule to avoid missed doses.
Warning
- Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to chlorpromazine or other phenothiazines.
- Severe CNS depression or comatose states.
- Bone marrow suppression.
- Precautions:
- Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular, liver, or kidney disorders.
- Avoid in patients with Parkinson’s disease or epilepsy unless prescribed.
- May impair mental and physical abilities—caution when driving or operating machinery.
- Pregnancy and Lactation:
- Not recommended unless essential. Use only if the potential benefit outweighs the risk.
- Drug Interactions:
- Increased sedation with alcohol, sedatives, or antihistamines.
- Interaction with anticholinergic drugs may increase side effects.
- Use with other CNS depressants can exacerbate drowsiness.
- Side Effects:
- Common: Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision.
- Serious: Extrapyramidal symptoms, tardive dyskinesia, low blood pressure, or neuroleptic malignant syndrome (rare but life-threatening).
- Overdose:
- Symptoms: CNS depression, hypotension, seizures.
- Seek immediate medical attention in case of suspected overdose.
