Avelox Oral 400mg tablets is an effective fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It stops bacteria from producing DNA, which helps to stop their growth. Active Substance: Moxifloxacin 400mg per tablet.

Suggested Use
Avelox is indicated for the treatment of:
- Community-acquired pneumonia
- Acute bacterial sinusitis
- Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
- Complicated skin and skin structure infections, including diabetic foot infections
- Complicated intra-abdominal infections
- Plague
Dosage:
- The recommended dosage for adults is: 400 mg orally once daily.
- The duration of therapy varies based on the type of infection:
- Community-acquired pneumonia: 7 to 14 days
- Acute bacterial sinusitis: 10 days
- Complicated skin and skin structure infections: 7 to 21 days
- Complicated intra-abdominal infections: 5 to 14 days
Warning
- Avoid use in patients with known allergy to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolones.
- Increased risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture, especially in older adults or those on corticosteroids.
- Moxifloxacin may prolong the QT interval. Use caution in patients with known cardiac conditions.
- May cause dizziness, confusion, or seizures. Avoid activities requiring alertness if affected.
- Avoid excessive sunlight or UV exposure as it may cause photosensitive reactions.
- Pregnancy and Lactation: Not recommended unless clearly necessary.
- Use only for confirmed bacterial infections to minimize resistance risk.
- Drug Interactions:
- Avoid concurrent use with antacids, multivitamins, or supplements containing magnesium, aluminum, iron, or zinc. These may reduce absorption.
- Use caution with medications prolonging the QT interval.
