Augmentin ES 642.9mg/5ml Suspension is a strong antibiotic that combines two active ingredients. It effectively fights resistant bacteria. This suspension is safe for children and works well against respiratory infections and more. Active Substances: Amoxicillin 600 mg and Clavulanic Acid 42.9 mg per 5 ml.

Suggested Use
Augmentin ES is indicated for the treatment of the following bacterial infections:
- Acute bacterial sinusitis
- Acute otitis media (middle ear infection)
- Community-acquired pneumonia
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Infections caused by β-lactamase-producing bacteria resistant to amoxicillin alone
Dosage and Administration:
Pediatric Dose (2 months to 12 years):
- Recommended dose: 90mg/kg/day of amoxicillin (divided into two doses every 12 hours).
- Administer as per the doctor’s instructions based on the child’s weight and severity of the infection.
Preparation Instructions:
- Shake the bottle to loosen the powder.
- Add boiled and cooled water up to the marked line on the bottle. Shake vigorously.
- Refrigerate after preparation and use within 10 days.
Warning
- Do not use if allergic to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, or penicillin derivatives.
- Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
- Dose adjustments may be necessary.
- Long-term use may lead to superinfection, including fungal overgrowth.
- Discontinue use if severe diarrhoea occurs, as it may indicate antibiotic-associated colitis.
- Drug Interactions:
- May reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
- Probenecid may increase blood levels of amoxicillin.
- Storage: Keep the suspension refrigerated (2 °C to 8 °C) and shake well before each use.
Side Effects:
- Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and skin rash.
- Rare but serious: Hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice, and severe hypersensitivity reactions.
