Suggested Use
Augmentin BD 625mg Tablets is prescribed to treat the following infections:
- Respiratory tract infections (e.g., sinusitis, pneumonia, bronchitis).
- Skin and soft tissue infections (e.g., cellulitis, abscesses).
- Urinary tract infections (e.g., cystitis, pyelonephritis).
- Dental infections.
- Bone and joint infections (e.g., osteomyelitis).
Dosage:
Adults and children over 12 years (weighing ≥40kg):
- One tablet every 12 hours (twice daily).
Duration of Treatment:
- Typically 5–14 days, depending on the severity of the infection and the doctor’s recommendation.
- Take the tablets with or immediately before a meal to reduce the likelihood of gastrointestinal discomfort.
- Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew.
Warning
- Do not use if allergic to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, or any other penicillin antibiotics.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of liver problems or jaundice related to previous use of this medication.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Generally considered safe when prescribed; however, consult your doctor before use.
- Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking as they may interact with Augmentin.
Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rashes, and headache. If severe reactions occur or persist, medical attention should be sought immediately.
