Arixtra 2.5mg/0.5ml is an anticoagulant. It prevents and manages certain blood clots by stopping factor Xa, a key part of the clotting process. Active Substance: Fondaparinux Sodium: 2.5 mg in 0.5 ml solution (per prefilled syringe).

Suggested Use
Arixtra is used for:
- Prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
- Prevention and treatment of pulmonary embolism (PE)
- Prophylaxis of DVT following surgery (e.g., hip fracture, hip replacement, knee replacement, abdominal surgery)
Dosage
- For DVT and PE treatment: 2.5 mg subcutaneously once daily
- For DVT prophylaxis following surgery: 2.5 mg subcutaneously once daily, starting at least 6-8 hours after surgery
Warning
- Contraindications: Active bleeding, severe kidney disease, infection in the lining of the heart, low platelets after testing positive for a certain antibody
- Precautions: Use with caution in patients with other medical conditions that increase bleeding risk
- Side Effects: Injection site reactions, sleep problems, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, headache, swelling of hands/feet, fever
- Serious Side Effects: Sudden vision loss, irregular heartbeats, severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, high fever, profuse sweating
