Adacel Polio is used for:
- Booster Immunization: To enhance immunity against tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, and poliomyelitis in individuals aged four years and older.
- Not for Primary Immunization: It is not intended for use as part of the primary immunization series for these diseases
Dosage:
The recommended dosage is a single injection of 0.5 mL administered intramuscularly. The timing of booster doses should follow official immunization guidelines, typically every ten years for adults after the initial series.
Warning
- Contraindications: Adacel Polio should not be administered to individuals with a history of severe allergic reactions to any component of the vaccine or after a previous dose.
- Precautions: Use with caution in individuals with a history of Guillain-Barré syndrome or neurological disorders. Pregnant women should consult healthcare providers about vaccination timing, especially during the third trimester, to protect newborns from pertussis
- Side Effects: Common side effects may include pain at the injection site, fever, fatigue, and irritability. Severe reactions are rare but can include anaphylaxis or neurological complications.
