It can be used as a maintenance therapy and a reliever medication, allowing patients to manage their condition effectively.
Dosage:
The recommended dosage for adults and adolescents (12 years and older) is typically:
- For Asthma: 1 to 2 inhalations twice daily.
- For COPD: Generally, 2 inhalations twice daily.
Patients may adjust their dosage based on their physician’s advice, particularly during exacerbations or increased symptom severity. It is crucial not to exceed the prescribed dose.
Instructions for Use:
- Remove the cover and hold the Turbuhaler upright.
- Turn the grip until it clicks to load the dose.
- Inhale deeply through the mouthpiece, ensuring the dose is delivered.
- Rinse your mouth after use to reduce the risk of oral thrush.
Warning
- Not for initial asthma management: Symbicort is not intended for the initial management of asthma.
- Regular use required: This medicine must be used regularly to be effective.
- Do not use for sudden shortness of breath: If sudden shortness of breath occurs, use a rescue inhaler.
- Possible side effects: Headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, and respiratory tract infection. Rinsing your mouth and throat with water or brushing your teeth after using the inhaler can help prevent some side effects.
- Consult your doctor: Before taking it, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases, are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
