Suggested Use
Levitra is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, which helps men get and maintain an erection.
Dosage:
- Recommended Dosage: The typical starting dose is 5 mg taken orally, as needed, approximately 60 minutes before sexual activity. The dose can be adjusted based on effectiveness and tolerance, but should not exceed 20 mg per day.
Levitra can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Warning
- Contraindications: Do not take Levitra if you are also taking nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin) in any form, due to the risk of a severe and potentially dangerous drop in blood pressure.
- Precautions:
- Inform your doctor if you have any heart conditions, liver or kidney problems, low blood pressure, a history of stroke, or if you have ever had a loss of vision due to non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption when taking Levitra, as it may increase the risk of dizziness and headache.
- Levitra is not recommended for women or children.
- Seek medical attention if you experience an erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism) or any sudden vision or hearing loss.
- Drug Interactions: Levitra may interact with other medications. Inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements.
