Levitra is primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, helping to achieve and maintain an erection.
Dosage:
- Starting Dose: The recommended starting dose is 10mg, taken orally, as needed, approximately 60 minutes before sexual activity.
- Maximum Dose: The dose may be increased to a maximum of 20mg or decreased to 5mg based on efficacy and side effects.
Frequency: The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day. Levitra can be taken with or without food.
Warning
- Levitra should not be used by individuals with certain health conditions, including severe heart or liver problems, certain eye disorders (like retinitis pigmentosa), and those taking nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin) or other medications that lower blood pressure.
- Alcohol can reduce the effectiveness of Levitra, and grapefruit juice can increase the concentration of vardenafil in your bloodstream, potentially causing unwanted side effects.
- Common side effects include headache, dizziness, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, and changes in vision (such as blurred vision or difficulty differentiating between blue and green). Seek medical attention if you experience severe side effects or an erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism).
