Gaviscon Infant Sachet 30’s is an effective treatment for gastric reflux in infants and young children. It reduces gastric regurgitation, especially in those with a developing cardiac sphincter. By stabilizing stomach contents, it prevents reflux and regurgitation, alleviating discomfort. Symptoms of infant reflux include spitting up milk, vomiting during or after feedings, coughing or hiccuping while eating, fussiness, excessive crying, difficulty settling, and weight gain issues. Some infants may also experience silent reflux, showing symptoms without bringing up milk.

Each Gaviscon Infant sachet contains the following active ingredients

  •  225mg Sodium Alginate
  • 87.5mg Magnesium Alginate

Infant Gastric Reflux

Suggested Use

Gaviscon Infant is not for use in premature infants or infants under one year old, except under medical supervision. Do not give more than six times in 24 hours.

For infants aged 1-2 years:

  • Infants under 4.5 kg (10lb): one sachet should be used.
  • Infants over 4.5kg (10lb): two sachets should be used.

For bottle-fed infants:

  • Mix each sachet into 115 ml of feed in the bottle.
  • Shake well and feed as normal.

For breast-fed infants and other infants up to 2 years:

  • Mix each sachet with 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of cooled boiled water until a smooth paste is formed.
  • Add another 10 ml (2 teaspoons) of cooled boiled water and mix.
  • Administer using a spoon or feeding bottle partway through each feed.

Warning

  • Consult a doctor before use if your baby is below the age of 1.
  • If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, or worsen, seek medical advice.
  • Do not use Gaviscon Infant with other feed thickening agents or infant milk preparations containing a thickening agent.
  • Do not use more than the stated amount.
  • Each sachet is security sealed; do not use if damaged.
  • If your infant has been put on a low sodium (salt) diet, ask your doctor or other health professional before giving the product. Each sachet contains approximately 21-23.9mg of sodium.
  • Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use this product after the expiry date.
  • Always read the label.
  • Products containing mannitol may have a laxative effect or cause diarrhoea.
  • Contains gluten from wheat (less than 20ppm).
