Gaviscon Advance Suspension quickly helps relieve acid reflux, heartburn, and indigestion. It creates a protective layer over the stomach contents, stopping acid from moving up into the esophagus. This advanced formula has a high level of sodium alginate, giving longer-lasting protection than regular antacids.
The active ingredients in Gaviscon Advance Suspension include:
- Sodium alginate (1000 mg per 10 ml)
- Potassium hydrogen carbonate (200 mg per 10 ml)

Suggested Use
Gaviscon Advance Suspension is indicated for the treatment of:
- Acid reflux and heartburn
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Indigestion and discomfort caused by gastric acid
- Regurgitation, especially in pregnancy
Dosage and Administration:
Adults and children over 12 years:
- Take 5-10ml after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a doctor.
- Shake well before use.
Children under 12 years:
- Use only under medical supervision.
Warning
- Allergies: Do not take if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
- Sodium Content: Contains sodium (57.85 mg per 5 ml), which should be considered if you are on a controlled sodium diet.
- Interactions: Wait at least 2 hours between taking this medicine and other medicines such as tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, iron salts, thyroid hormones, chloroquine, bisphosphonates, and estramustine.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but treatment duration should be limited.
- Side Effects: May cause bloating, abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps.
