Amaryl 2mg Tablets help control blood sugar in type 2 diabetes by stimulating insulin production in the pancreas. When combined with a healthy diet and exercise, they effectively manage blood sugar and reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications. Active Substance: Glimepiride 2mg per tablet.

Suggested Use

Amaryl 2mg is indicated for:

  1. Management of blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  2. Use as monotherapy or in combination with other anti-diabetic medications (e.g., metformin or insulin) when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone do not achieve adequate glycemic control.

 

Dosage:

  • Initial Dose: Typically, 1mg once daily with breakfast or the first main meal.
  • Maintenance Dose: Gradually increase based on blood sugar monitoring, usually in increments of 1mg, at intervals of 1–2 weeks. The maximum recommended dose is 8mg per day.
  • Administration: Take orally with food to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. Swallow the tablet whole with water.

Note: Dosage should be individualized based on blood glucose response.

Warning

  • Amaryl should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity to glimepiride or other sulfonamide derivatives.
  • Caution is advised for patients who are elderly or have renal impairment due to an increased risk of hypoglycemia.
  • Regular monitoring of blood sugar levels is essential to prevent complications associated with diabetes.

Common side effects may include:

  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Weight gain
  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)

Patients should report any severe side effects or signs of allergic reactions to their healthcare provider immediately.
